Features

Reducing-balance method

EMIs are calculated the way banks calculate them: interest each month is charged only on the remaining balance, using EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n ÷ ((1 + r)n − 1).

Year-by-year schedule

See how early payments are mostly interest and later payments mostly principal. This helps you decide whether prepaying the loan is worth it.

Compare offers quickly

Move the rate slider or change the tenure to see how a 1% lower rate or a shorter loan changes both your EMI and the total cost.

Any currency, fully private

Pick dollars, rupees, pounds, euros or dirhams. Your figures are calculated on your device and are never stored.

When to use it

Home loans and mortgages

Long tenures keep the EMI low but multiply the interest. Compare 15 and 20 years to see the real difference in total cost before you sign.

Car and bike financing

Dealers often advertise a low monthly payment. Enter the price, rate and term to see the total you will actually pay.

Personal and business loans

Check that the monthly installment fits your budget or cash flow before you apply, and avoid borrowing more than you can comfortably repay.

Frequently asked questions

What is an EMI?

EMI stands for equated monthly installment: a fixed payment made every month that covers both interest and part of the principal, so the loan is fully repaid by the end of the tenure.

Why do I pay more interest at the start of the loan?

Interest is charged on the outstanding balance, which is highest at the beginning. As the balance falls, the interest part of each EMI shrinks and more of it goes toward the principal.

Does this calculator include fees, insurance or taxes?

No. It calculates principal and interest only. Processing fees, insurance and taxes vary by lender, so add them separately when comparing offers.

Will my bank's EMI match this exactly?

It should be very close for standard fixed-rate loans. Small differences can come from rounding, the date of the first payment or a lender using a different day-count method.

Does this work for Islamic financing?

Islamic products use profit rates and different contract structures. If the profit rate and installment plan behave like a fixed-rate loan, the result is a reasonable estimate, but confirm the exact schedule with your bank.

Is this financial advice?

No. Results are estimates for planning only. Check final figures with your lender before making a decision.
