Super Guarantee Calculator (Australia)

Find out how much superannuation your employer must pay for you. The super guarantee is 12% of your ordinary time earnings for 2025-26 and 2026-27. From 1 July 2026 employers pay it each payday, and earnings above the maximum contributions base of $270,830 a year do not need super.

Employer super a year —
Super per pay period

How to use the Super Calculator

  1. 1 Enter your ordinary time earnings, usually your base salary or wages without overtime.
  2. 2 Choose whether the amount is per year, month, fortnight or week.
  3. 3 Leave the rate at 12%, or enter a higher rate if your employer pays more.
  4. 4 Read the yearly super and the amount per month, fortnight and week.

Worked example

$85,000 a year at 12%. Employer super is $85,000 × 12% = $10,200 a year, which is $850 a month or about $392.31 a fortnight. On a $300,000 salary in 2026-27, super is only required on the first $270,830, so the minimum is $32,499.60.

Frequently asked questions

What is the super guarantee rate?

12% of ordinary time earnings. It rose to 12% on 1 July 2025 and the ATO lists 12% for 2026-27 as well.

What are ordinary time earnings?

Generally what you earn for your ordinary hours of work, including some allowances and bonuses, but usually not overtime.

What is payday super?

From 1 July 2026, employers must pay super guarantee for each payday, rather than quarterly, so contributions reach your fund sooner.

Is there a limit?

Yes. For 2026-27 the maximum contributions base is $270,830 a year. Employers do not have to pay super guarantee on earnings above it.

Is super paid on top of my salary?

Usually, if your contract says plus super. If your package includes super, the super is part of the total figure.

Can I check my super has been paid?

Yes. Log in to your super fund or to ATO online services through myGov to see the contributions your employer has reported, and compare them with this calculator each pay period.

Does super count towards my take-home pay?

No. Super guarantee is paid into your super fund, not your bank account, so it does not appear in your take-home pay. It is taxed at 15% in the fund, not at your marginal tax rate.
